Most men like their dates to look demure and pretty on a first date. While this may sound superficial, it is a fact that external factors to do with first impressions and appearance will play an important part in determining how attracted men are to their dates at the initial stage of the relationship. Here are a few practical tips on what to look out for when choosing an outfit for that great first date experience!
Even if you usually prefer to wear pants or jeans, it is recommended that u wear an outfit that is more feminine on a first date, such as a fit-and-flare dress or a skater skirt. Go for shoes that further enhance your feminine style. Unless you are very used to wearing heels and have high tolerance to the pain that may come with it, it will be more ideal to stick with safer choices including ballerina flats or pumps with kitten heels.
While going for a classic feminine style will never go wrong, adding some fun elements to your outfit is totally acceptable for a relaxed first date too. Details such as graphic text, cute beaded earrings or a well-coordinated print-on print look can all inject some liveliness to your overall appearance and reflect your unique personal style to your date!
When it comes to the length of the dress or skirt, go for a midi version or one that hits slightly above the knee. If the length is too long, you may look overdressed. In contrast, a mini skirt may be sending a wrong message to your date.
While you may find darker colors such as black or brown to be more flattering, prettier colors or vibrant prints will be more suitable for a first date. If you are not comfortable with wearing colors that are too pretty (e.g. pastel shades) or do not want to look too girly or cute, a good solution will be to mix pretty colors with other more neutral shades. An example will be combining pink (pretty color) with grey (neutral color), as in the outfit featured in today’s post.
