A Poofy Skirt – Photo Diary in Malacca Part III

Nostalgia is the word I will use to describe the general vibe of Malacca. Some of the most popular areas are made up of narrow streets, filled with rows and rows of shophouses exuding old-world charm. On the weekends, many are attracted to the famous open-air night market at Jonker Street where traditional snacks, toys and other collectibles are put on sale.

It is against this captivating heritage backdrop that we did our third and last photoshoot. I have always loved the appearance of a poofy mini-skirt and I thought the dramatic shape will make for a very interesting juxtaposition to the quaint surrounding of Malacca, which will hopefully be reflected in the pictures –

I first visited Malacca a few years ago to attend a girlfriend’s wedding and fell in love with this historical state of Malaysia. What instantly attracted me is the beautiful architecture – Malacca is rich in charming colonial buildings as well as quaint shop-houses and boutique hotels with strong culturally influenced designs. To put it simply, I am in love with the old-world vibe of this small but beautiful state!

So when my husband and I visited Malacca again for a short vacation a few weeks ago, we grabbed the opportunity to take a series of pictures both near and at the popular historical Portuguese fortress, A Formasa –
